About Me

Mom, Teacher, and thrifter

What do you remember about your days in elementary school? As a child I never liked school. There I said it.  I want a different experience for my students. My classroom community consists of regular ed, SPED with a significant percentage of ELL students. As a 4K teacher the standard of a successful first year is if they leave my classroom knowing all the letters of the alphabet, being able to count to 35 and able to write their name.  If I can get them there I have done my job. Well I am going to let you in on a little secrete...Those measures of success are not important to me.   What is important is growing students to be kind to one another, to love coming to school, and to think deeper than the rote skills that define them. Don't get me wrong, being able to read eventually is important, I just want to take a slower more natural route.

The games I have created teach early childhood skills from a different angle. They get kids to think like an artist, musician, scientist, mathematician. Language skills are developed in an organic way through wonder, exploration and adrenaline!
